Hillman Imp Mk1  1963 -1965

Rear mounted alloy engine of 875cc. 75-80 mph with 45mpg.
All Imps were manufactured at a purpose built factory in Linwood near Glasgow, Scotland.
Under-rated Mini alternative with a useful rear hatch. Entertaining in the wet!

Hillman Imp Mk2  1965 - 1968

A 'Spot the difference' facelift!
Cute little cars with bags of character.

Hillman Imp Mk3  1968 - 76

Final run-out model... and a final face-lift!
A pity it wasn't developed further by Chrysler.
All Imp production  440,000

Hillman Imp Californian 1968 - 1970

A nice little car with a sloping roof coupe style top.
Came along when all the Imp's worst gremlins had been truly sorted.
Alas, less head room, less luggage room and no rear hatch;
but a collectable motor today.

Hillman Hunter mkI 1966 - 1968

The Arrow Range.
Rootes answer to the competition in the medium family market that was dominated by Ford.
Designed by Rex Fleming, the Hunter bore a striking resemblance to the Ford Corsair.
Pinnacle of its career was winning the prestigious London - Sydney Marathon Rally in 1968
when driven by Andrew Cowans.
The Hunter had a long life with more facelifts than a film star and continued in UK production until 1979.
5 bearing alloy headed powerplant of 1725cc with 74bhp on tap.
Nice cars to drive for the time!

Hillman Hunter mkII 1968 - 1972

Facelift number 1 and square headlamps were fast becoming the in vogue design feature to have.

Hillman Hunter mkIII 1972 - 1975

Facelift number 2 and Detroit's 'coke-bottle' styling was on its way in however
which made the Hunter seem a tad conservative for the 70's.
They offered good value for money though for basic family motoring and
it found 470,000 homes throughout its life.

Hillman Hunter GLS

Facelift number 3! The posh Hunter with double headlamp grille, a bit more chrome
and a plusher interior. A rare beast these days!

Hillman Hunter mkIV 1975 - 1979

Just when you thought there could be no more... along comes facelift number 4.
Well off the pace by now in both design and technology...
at last the final run-out model that ended it's days as a Chrysler
before being sold off to Iran... where it still survives as the Paykan!
