The XK8, designed by Geoff Lawson, was a grand tourer introduced at the Geneva Motor show in 1996
to replace the ageing XJS. Available as a coupe or a convertible, the XK8 (for 8 cylinders) introduced the first 8 cylinder engine to power a Jaguar and was available in either a naturally aspirated 4.0 litre or supercharged 4.2 litre form. It's platform was based on the Aston Martin DB7 which in turn was based a much altered version borrowed from the old XJS. Electronically limited to 155 mph. Such was the purity of the initial design that very little exterior change was needed over the years with only a bit of superficial cosmetic surgery applied here and there over it's 10 year lifespan. Jeremy Clarkson on the Top Gear programme likened the interior of the original XK8 to 'like sitting in Blenheim Palace.' The final XK8 rolled off the Coventry production line in 2005.... All in all... cars to lust over! |

The stunningly beautiful X150 was unveiled at the 2005 Frankfurt Motor Show to great acclaim
and became the first of a new breed of Jaguars that departed from the more traditional design roots the company had gone down over recent years. With the sudden death of Jaguar's design chief Geoff Lawson in 1999, Ford appointed Ian Callum, the designer of their Aston Martin DB7 and Vanquish to take over, so the X150 bares more than a passing resemblance to these two great motors... which is no bad thing! Voted 'Car of the Year' in 2006 by Top Gear. Power is provided by either a 4.2 naturally aspirated V8, a 4.2 supercharged V8 or for the XKR version a huge 5 litre supercharged V8 that cranks out 503bhp. All cars are electronically limited to 155 mph. Received a facelift in 2009 with larger air intakes giving a much more aggressive looking front end. |
